CIAA and Tourism NT’s Collaborative Efforts Result in Successful Tourism Campaign

The Caravan Industry Association of Australia (CIAA) celebrated the success of a recent partnership with Tourism NT, aimed at promoting the Northern Territory as a key destination for caravanners, campers, and road trippers.

The “Million Dollar Road Trip Northern Territory” initiative, which involved over 460 caravan parks and tourism businesses, attracted significant interest, resulting in more than 55,000 entries engaging with local businesses across the region.

The competition lasted from May 1 to September 30 and offered participants opportunities to win prizes, including a chance at a $1 million jackpot, by engaging with local attractions and accommodations.

It also highlighted individual stories, such as the Hyslop family, winners of the initiative, who are continuing a multi-generational road trip across Queensland, New South Wales, and Victoria.

The campaign delivered measurable results, including 29% of participants extending their stays and 44% exploring new tourism experiences during their trips.

According to the association’s press release, these outcomes demonstrate the effectiveness of campaigns designed to enhance the caravanning and camping experience while fostering long-term growth within the industry.

The association thanked key partners, including Tourism NT, Tourism Top End, Tourism Central Australia, Caravanning NT, and the Northern Territory Government, for their contributions to the campaign.

Earlier this year, the CIAA launched a similar campaign called the “Caravan to a Million“, a national initiative aimed at supporting the caravan and camping industry by encouraging consumer engagement with local businesses and promoting the appeal of RV travel.

The campaign, which ran from February 1 to June 30, brought together over 650 trade businesses and featured a million-dollar prize incentive to attract participants to caravan shows, dealerships, and service providers across Australia.

The CIAA, as the national body for the caravanning and camping sector, continues to advocate for a safe, sustainable, and compliant industry.

With over 6,000 businesses in its supply chain and a substantial consumer base, the association actively supports initiatives that benefit the broader community and promote the appeal of caravanning and camping across Australia.
