Albanese Government Awards 111 Caravan Parks with Grants

The Albanese Government and Minister for Trade and Tourism Don Farrell have announced that 111 caravan parks across Australia will receive grants between $10,000 and $100,000.

The grants were given to parks that will deliver new and improved accommodation, facilities, and amenities, according to a news release.

Over the next 18 months, the parks will implement exciting upgrades that are innovative and environmentally friendly.

Stuart Lamont, the Chief Executive of the Caravan Industry Association of Australia (CIAA), said this targeted Federal infrastructure support package recognizes the growing value of caravanning to Australia’s tourism and visitor economy.

Lamont also said that caravanning is Australia’s largest visitor and economic cohort, contributing almost $27 billion to the country’s economy and local manufacturing activity.

The funding will go directly into upgrading caravan parks across the nation, and it is expected to attract private capital expenditure support up to three times over.

Lamont believes that this funding will help sustainably recover and grow Australian tourism.

Due to the success of the program and the high number of applications, the CIAA will continue to work with the government on future possibilities for infrastructure funding.
