The RV Industry Association (RVIA) used an Aug. 19 RV Caucus event on Capitol Hill to advance two legislative priorities affecting the recreational vehicle industry, with more than 100 congressional staff members attending the gathering.
The event, led by the RVIA Government Affairs team, focused on building connections between the RV industry and congressional offices while educating attendees about the sector’s legislative priorities.
The discussions continued the momentum from the association’s June Advocacy Day.
A key priority discussed was reauthorization of the Legacy Restoration Fund, which would provide funding to continue modernizing and improving campgrounds and outdoor recreation infrastructure across the country.
The event also highlighted the No Tax on RV Loans legislation, introduced in May by Rep. Rudy Yakym, R-Ind., and Rep. Dina Titus, D-Nev.
The legislation would allow consumers to deduct up to $10,000 in interest on RV loans.
According to a News and Insights report of RVIA, Jason Rano, vice president of Government Affairs at the RVIA, spoke during the event about the RV industry’s economic impact, the association’s legislative priorities and the importance of the RV Caucus.
The RV Caucus consists of House and Senate caucuses that advocate for the RV industry on Capitol Hill. Their areas of focus include campground modernization as well as tax and trade issues.
A second RV Caucus event is scheduled for December, providing another opportunity for the industry and congressional staff to discuss the legislative priorities identified by the association.
