The RV Industry Association (RVIA) will host a webinar Sept. 9 covering new PFAS compliance requirements in New Mexico that will affect RV manufacturers, suppliers, and aftermarket parts businesses beginning Jan. 1, 2027.
The webinar, “Navigating New Mexico’s New PFAS Regulations,” will address the final rule under New Mexico’s PFAS Protection Act, also known as HB 212.
The session is scheduled for 2 p.m. ET and will provide an overview of the state-level requirements and their application to the RV industry.
According to a News and Insights report of RVIA, RVs receive key vehicle exemptions under the regulations, but manufacturers and other businesses will face new labeling and compliance requirements.
The rules will apply to RV-related products and components beginning with the Jan. 1, 2027, manufacturing deadline.
The session will examine how motorized and towable RVs are treated under the regulations, including their classifications as “Motor Vehicle” and “Complex Durable Good.” The classifications determine how the PFAS requirements apply within the RV industry.
Labeling requirements will be another focus of the webinar. The session will cover information that must be included in consumer-facing specification sheets and owner’s manuals ahead of the 2027 manufacturing deadline.
The webinar also will address requirements affecting individual components, replacement parts and aftermarket products. Those provisions could affect suppliers and businesses involved in products or parts used to support RVs after their original manufacture.
The session will cover state reporting schedules, application fees and penalties associated with noncompliance. The association also will provide a question-and-answer session for participants seeking clarification on compliance issues.
The event is scheduled for Wednesday, Sept. 9, at 2 p.m. ET.
