American Glamping Association to Host March 18 Session on Differentiation Strategies for Glamping Retreats

The American Glamping Association (AGA) will host a virtual Lunch & Learn session on March 18 aimed at addressing growing competition and performance challenges among glamping retreats.

Scheduled for 11 a.m. Mountain Standard Time, the session will focus on how operators can differentiate their properties as an increasing number of retreats compete on similar features such as scenery and amenities.

The event will be held remotely, with participants required to register in advance.

The session centers on a key industry issue: the diminishing impact of natural landscapes as a primary driver of business performance. While scenic locations may initially attract attention, they are no longer sufficient to sustain long-term results as more properties adopt similar offerings.

According to the event overview, attendees will examine how increased competition is contributing to a sense of “sameness” across glamping retreats. The session will outline strategies to help operators refine their brand identity and positioning in response to these market conditions.

“Beautiful landscapes may get attention, but they don’t guarantee performance. As more glamping retreats compete on scenery and amenities, differentiation erodes and results stall,” the event’s announcement states.

Topics will include why nature alone does not ensure sustained performance, as well as methods for developing a more distinct and competitive offering. The program will also explore approaches to creating a retreat concept that stands apart in the marketplace.

The session will feature Destination Design, a joint initiative of Menizei, which will present insights on how design and positioning can influence business outcomes. The discussion is expected to provide practical frameworks for operators seeking to improve performance through differentiation rather than relying solely on location-based appeal

AGA continues to host educational programming aimed at supporting operators with evolving business strategies and operational insights.
