Property taxes, artificial intelligence and private park development will headline the Texas Association of Campground Owners’ Spring Meeting and Tradeshow set for April 21-22 at the Lone Star Convention & Expo Center in Conroe, Texas, as campground and RV park operators gather for operational and regulatory guidance.
The event will focus on practical strategies and compliance issues affecting outdoor hospitality businesses across the state.
The two-day meeting will bring together industry experts to address taxation, legal practices, construction standards and guest service improvements in campground and RV park operations.
“We’ve lined up experts who can address every consequential question affecting campground and RV park operations today,” said Brian Schaeffer, executive director and CEO of the Texas Association of Campground Owners.
“Whether your immediate questions involve taxation, new park construction, legal issues or ways to improve your hospitality, we’ve lined up experts who can provide the answers you need. We expect record attendance,” Schaeffer added.
Kelly Hancock, acting comptroller for the state of Texas, is scheduled to deliver the keynote address, focusing on escalating property tax rates and steps park operators can take individually and in coordination with the association to manage tax burdens. The session will include an opportunity for attendees to ask questions directly.
Artificial intelligence applications for campgrounds and RV parks will be covered by Garrett McKinnon of CampgroundViews.com and Jordan Taylor of Newbook, who will discuss how AI tools can be used to increase occupancy and support business operations.
A roundtable on NFPA 1194 standards and park expansion will feature Jason Olson of Conestoga Wagon Company and Chris Hipple of Leavitt Recreation & Hospitality Insurance, addressing development and construction considerations for new and expanding parks.
Additional sessions will cover operations and compliance topics. Jayne Cohen of Campground Consulting Group will present on improving guest services and hospitality, while Christine Taylor of Goldberg Segalla will review legal best practices for campground and RV park operators. Randall Dally, past president of the association, and Terry Munoz of Campground Consulting Group will lead a discussion on campground maintenance.
Schaeffer and Dally will also join Assistant Executive Director Michael Moore and lobbyist Ron Hinkle to provide legislative updates.
The program also includes vendor exhibits and social events, including a vendor happy hour, a cowboy casino night and the association’s annual awards presentations.
