The Recreation Vehicle Dealers Association (RVDA) of Canada has launched its 2026 Business Pulse Survey, an initiative designed to gather detailed feedback from members on the operational challenges facing Canadian RV dealerships.
The survey will inform the association’s advocacy work with the federal government, providing data to guide policy recommendations and discussions with policymakers in Ottawa.
The RVDA of Canada has a history of leveraging member input to achieve tangible outcomes. In 2025, data submitted by dealers regarding the 25% motorhome surtax contributed to the association securing a Government Remission Order. The measure provided financial relief to dealerships and helped stabilize costs for Canadian consumers.
“We don’t go to Ottawa to speak on behalf of the industry in generalities; we go there with the specific facts and figures provided by our members,” said Eleonore Hamm, president of RVDA of Canada. “This survey provides the critical leverage we need to ensure that federal policies support, rather than hinder, the success of Canadian RV dealerships.”
The 2026 survey aims to capture information on several key areas affecting Canadian dealerships, including the federal review of the Canada-US-Mexico Agreement (CUSMA), tax and regulatory compliance issues, and workforce and infrastructure challenges.
Specific topics include duty-free trade priorities, inconsistencies in GST/HST application on imports, and the impact of skilled labor shortages. The association intends to use this evidence to pursue federal training grants, infrastructure investment, and tax and regulatory relief.
Data collected from the survey will guide RVDA of Canada’s engagement with Members of Parliament throughout the spring and form the basis for its 2026 Pre-Budget consultations.
“Government officials need to hear the right things from the right people at the right time,” Hamm said. “By taking five minutes to share their perspective, our members ensure we are heading into every meeting in Ottawa with the current, credible data needed to move the needle for our industry.”
The survey is open to all RVDA of Canada members and closes on Friday, February 27, 2026. Participation provides members with an opportunity to directly influence advocacy priorities and federal policies that impact the retail RV sector.
The RVDA of Canada is a national federation of provincial and regional associations representing retail businesses in the RV industry. Its initiatives, including advocacy and professional development, are developed and delivered by members on behalf of the sector.
For dealership owners and operators in the RV, caravan, and outdoor hospitality industries, participating in the survey can offer insight into how regulatory, tax, and trade issues may affect operational costs and growth opportunities over the coming year.
