The Overkill Camper, a product of Overkill Campers, is making waves in the off-road trailer market. Despite its robust construction, this trailer weighs just under 2,000 pounds, fits in a standard garage, and offers expandable capabilities for growing families. The Overkill Camper is a testament to the idea that overbuilt doesn’t have to mean impractical.
The Overkill Camper’s design is centered around a 5×10 model with an elevated roof system. This innovative feature allows standing room height and additional sleeping space. The roof system is simple in design, sliding out on 500-pound slides and supporting a significant amount of weight.
The camper’s kitchen features a nested partner stove and a functioning sink with hot and cold water. The galley includes a prep table and storage area, all made from composite and aluminum, ensuring durability and resistance to fluctuating weather conditions.
The camper also comes equipped with a 2000-watt inverter, providing full 110 power at the interior and exterior.
One of the standout features of the Overkill Camper is its side slide-out, which houses a queen-size bed. This feature allows for maximized interior room and easy conversion between travel and living modes.
The camper also includes a 300 amp-hour rely on lithium low temp battery, a 96-liter dual zone Snowmaster fridge, and a binar heater system that provides on-demand hot water, cabin forced heat, and optional radiant heat floor.
The Overkill Camper’s exterior features are equally impressive. The camper has a spare tire cradle in a Baja design and utilizes Timber and Axle suspension. The camper’s chassis, made from aluminum channel, is DOT approved, Nitsa approved, and rated for 25,000 pounds.
Despite its many impressive features, there are a few potential areas for improvement. The kitchen could be more conveniently located at the rear of the trailer for easier access. There are also concerns about the absence of a pressurized cabin, which is typically a standard feature in overbuilt trailers.
Lastly, while the Timber and suspension is adequate, some believe there are better options on the market for suspension.
The Overkill Camper is a testament to the possibilities of off-road trailer design. It combines the robustness of an overbuilt trailer with the practicality of a lightweight, small trailer. While it may not be perfect, its innovative features and thoughtful design make it a compelling option for those seeking a versatile and durable off-road camping experience.
