Camping at Ben Ban: A Serene Escape in Terome, Queensland

Ben Ban Camping, located in Terome just outside Aratula, Queensland, offers a scenic retreat for outdoor enthusiasts. Situated about an hour and a half from Brisbane, this campsite is easily accessible via a 6 km stretch of dirt road, manageable even for two-wheel drive vehicles and caravans.

Spanning 160 acres of picturesque farmland on the Scenic Rim and beneath Cunningham’s Gap, Ben Ban boasts multiple campsites, including prime spots along a serene creek. The area is not only beautiful but also home to friendly farm animals, adding to the rustic charm, as shown in a video by Get Camping Oz.

Upon arrival, campers are greeted with a spacious and grassy campsite ideal for large caravans and vehicles. The area is equipped with a substantial fire pit and bordered by a picturesque creek, creating an inviting atmosphere for relaxation.

Campers can enjoy the nearby Clayton Gully Creek, perfect for families and children to splash around. Additionally, the campsite offers a unique experience with a wild Australian bush lemon tree, providing a natural treat for visitors.

Further into the property lies the Kingfisher campsite, accessible only by four-wheel drive. This area is shaded and surrounded by the tranquil sounds of Gap Creek, making it an ideal summer retreat.

The creek’s crystal-clear waters offer a refreshing dip, while the campsite’s remote location ensures a peaceful escape. Similarly, the Cascades campsite, also requiring four-wheel drive access, features open spaces and a beautiful waterfall, perfect for a summer’s day outing.

The property includes a scenic lookout over the Main Range National Park, available for events and functions. Though camping is not permitted at the lookout, its breathtaking views make it a sought-after spot for special occasions.

The farm’s dog-friendly policy and availability of firewood delivered by the owner, Luke, add to the convenience. However, visitors must be fully self-contained, as there are no amenities such as toilets or showers on-site.

Ben Ban Camping offers a unique and peaceful camping experience with a variety of sites catering to different needs. The stunning natural beauty, combined with the friendly atmosphere and essential tips for newcomers, ensures a memorable outdoor adventure. With prices at $64 per night for two adults, two children, and a pet, it provides good value, especially considering the beautiful and expansive setting.
