WisconsinCampgrounds.com highlights 19 campgrounds that offer old-fashioned activities and attractions, from log rolling and cardboard boat regattas to adult-size teeter-totters.
Wisconsin provides a diverse array of camping options, ranging from modern RV resorts with amenities like water slides to traditional, secluded lakefront parks featuring classic activities.
According to a press release, Lori Severson, executive director of the Wisconsin Association of Campground Owners (WACO), highlighted the diversity of campgrounds available in Wisconsin.
“We’ve got every kind of campground you can imagine in Wisconsin. We have some real hidden gems in virtually every part of Wisconsin,” Severson said.
These campgrounds offer a unique blend of activities and amenities, catering to different preferences. From adult-size teeter-totters and hayrides to chili cook-offs and karaoke nights, Wisconsin’s campgrounds have something for everyone.
Apple Creek Campground in De Pere, located between Green Bay and Appleton, features a heated swimming pool, catch-and-release fishing, and a variety of rental units, including a glamping tent, yurt, and cabin.
Additionally, Arbor Vitae Campground in Woodruff offers fishing and boating on Big Arbor Vitae Lake, as well as activities for kids like rafting on Link Creek.
In Frederic, Birchwood Beach Resort & Campground includes fishing, swimming, and boating on Spirit Lake. Cabins are situated close to the lake, which is home to various fish species.
Meanwhile, Blue Top Resort & Campground in Fremont features waterfront cabins and year-round fishing opportunities on Wolf River and Partridge Lake.
Another highlight is the Chetek River Campground in Chetek, which offers a heated pool, kayak rentals, and a miniature golf course.
Near Fountain City, Drift Inn Resort on Indian Creek has permanent and seasonal campsites. Its amenities include docks, a fish cleaning station, and an on-site bar and restaurant.
Built in 2008, Eagle View RV Camp in Chetek is one of the newer RV parks in the North Woods. It offers a game room, playground, and hiking trails. Additionally, Fish Creek Campground in Door County includes activities such as fishing, hiking, and outdoor lawn games like cornhole and pickleball.
In Chetek, Hitts Wildwood Resort, with a history dating back to 1902, has 15 cabins and numerous amenities, including a swimming pool and new playground structures.
Another highlight is the Little Creek Family Campground in Fairchild, which features a swimming pond, paddle boats, and themed weekends like pirate and mermaid events.
Furthermore, Iola Pines Campground in Iola offers kid-friendly activities, including movie nights, wagon rides, and theme weekends.
Being family-owned for 40 years, Maple View Campground in Kewaunee has a man-made lake for swimming and fishing and organizes weekend activities throughout the summer.
In Chippewa Falls, Pine Harbor Campground has adult-size teeter-totters, horseshoe pits, and a pavilion for private events. Additionally, Punch Lake Campground in Arbor Vitae showcases a fishing pier on Punch Lake and is surrounded by the Northern Highland State Forest.
Red Barn Campground in Shell Lake offers activities like volleyball and pickleball and organized events such as talent shows and themed weekends.
For outdoor enthusiasts interested in ATV trails, Rock Lake Lodge & Campground in Bloomer includes a private boat launch and summer activities like cardboard boat races and karaoke pool parties.
Sheps Northshore Bar & Campground in New Auburn provides lakefront and lake view sites with activities like boating and jet-skiing. Additionally, Weaver’s Resort & Campground in Pelican Lake features a swimming beach and boat rentals and serves as a base camp for exploring North Woods attractions.
