Winnebago has launched its groundbreaking Connect app, a smartphone-integrated system that allows RV owners to monitor and control every major function of their motorhome remotely according to an article by Motor Trend.
Designed to simplify and enhance the RV experience, the app connects to an onboard system in Winnebago’s vehicles, enabling control of lighting, climate, water systems, power usage, slide-outs, awnings, and even a pet mode that maintains safe interior temperatures while owners are away. While some features are accessible via Bluetooth when near the vehicle, the optional $10-a-month LTE subscription unlocks remote access, diagnostics, and over-the-air updates from anywhere in the world.
The Connect system also offers peace of mind by letting users monitor fresh and waste water levels, battery status, propane supplies, and incoming power from solar panels or shore connections.
The intuitive app interface allows RVers to handle tasks like retracting awnings, locking doors, or dimming lights directly from their phones, simplifying setup and takedown at campsites. The technology is currently included as standard on the Mercedes-Benz Sprinter-based View series and will expand across Winnebago’s lineup, reflecting the company’s commitment to innovation.
Despite its advanced features, the system has room for improvement, such as integrating tire pressure monitoring, powered stabilizer jacks, and door step controls. It also requires the vehicle’s cabin power to be on, limiting functionality during storage.
However, its internet connectivity offers additional value by enabling remote diagnostics and streamlined repairs, potentially reducing service times through precise part identification and faster ordering.
