Wild Energy and Firefly Reservations have launched a new integration that enables campground operators to automate electric meter readings and utility billing directly within the Firefly platform.
According to a newsletter by Wild Energy, this partnership is designed to improve operational efficiency, accuracy, and cost recovery by removing the need for manual meter readings and spreadsheets.
Integration Features
The integration allows park operators to link Wild Energy’s smart meters with the Firefly Reservations system.
Once connected, electric usage data can be automatically pulled for any guest, including those staying for short periods. This enables operators to charge based on real-time consumption instead of relying on estimates.
According to Wild Energy’s website, the platform supports automated meter readings that sync with Firefly, eliminating manual processes.
It also provides enhanced reporting options for billing transparency and utility tracking. Readings can be logged directly from individual reservation records, further streamlining campground management workflows.
Firefly Reservations’ knowledge base details the setup process and usage options.
To activate the integration, users must enable the Wild Energy add-on (available for $25/month) through their Firefly account settings.
Operators must have Wild Energy smart meters installed at their property and obtain a property ID from Wild Energy to complete the initial connection.
Setup and Usage
Once the integration is enabled and connected, operators can configure utility types and assign meter IDs to individual units. This configuration allows the system to match electric usage data with specific guest reservations.
Meter readings can be recorded from two locations within the Firefly system: the “Record Utilities” page or directly through a reservation.
Operators can adjust readings, apply additional charges, hide pricing, or send receipts based on guest preferences and billing practices.
These features aim to simplify utility billing and increase visibility into park-level utility consumption.
Utility cost recovery continues to be a key focus for campground and RV park operators seeking to streamline operations and manage expenses.
By linking metering hardware with reservation software, the integration between Wild Energy and Firefly Reservations represents a step toward more automated, data-driven utility management in the outdoor hospitality industry.
