Rippling Waters Campground, a faith-based outdoor hospitality site located in Kenna, West Virginia, is undergoing significant upgrades aimed at enhancing the guest experience while broadening its appeal within the camping community.
The 250-acre property, owned by the Church of God of West Virginia since 1978, offers a range of lodging options and recreational amenities in a secluded setting off Middle Fork Road in Jackson County.
“Since 1978, Rippling Waters Campground has been the site of hundreds of events and a temporary home to countless campers. The goal is to provide a wholesome, family-oriented place where guests can enjoy nature and spend quality time with family and friends,” the campground indicates on its website.
Rippling Waters has since expanded its offerings to include 65 RV sites, rustic cabins, tent camping, and lodges.
It also features a large lake, walking trails, and multiple gathering areas.
The recent renovations include repairs to RV lots, roof replacements, and improvements to water, heating, and HVAC systems.
“We get a lot of traveling nurses and construction workers, but also everyday campers as well,” La Shawn Pagan, the campground’s public relations special projects and social media coordinator, said, as reported by The Jackson Star & Herald on June 26.
According to Campground Manager Mark Jarrett, the property seeks to offer “relaxation, tranquility and a spiritual retreat” to every guest.
Despite its religious roots, the campground welcomes individuals of all backgrounds. Rippling Waters will also host an Independence Day Celebration on Saturday, July 5.
The event will run from 11 a.m. to 8 p.m. and include food trucks, live music, contests, movies, and fireworks at 9 p.m. Admission is $5 for non-member adults and $3 for non-member children.
Pagan noted that while a membership program is available, it is not required to visit or stay.
Guests can also access fishing, paddle sports, picnicking areas, hiking trails, and a shooting range, with further amenities like putt-putt golf and pickleball set to launch soon.
Rippling Waters also holds historical and community value. One of its most iconic features is a chapel built in the 1980s, often used for weddings and religious retreats. The structure is among the most photographed locations on the property, adding to its appeal for event rentals.
