Quinault RV Park Faces Infrastructure Challenges After Coastal Storms

The Quinault RV Park and Marina in Ocean Shores, Washington, has sustained substantial damage following recent winter storms and ocean surges, temporarily halting operations.

According to Quinault Corporate Enterprises, which oversees the property, the park will not accept reservations until at least May 1 as cleanup and repairs continue.

The storm’s impact on the coastal RV park underscores the growing vulnerability of outdoor hospitality businesses situated in coastal and storm-prone regions.

Infrastructure damage includes significant impairment to the park’s electrical and sewer systems, while ongoing coastal erosion led to the permanent loss of five RV sites.

While the incident is a setback for the region’s tourism season, it also highlights a broader concern for operators across the RV and campground sectors: climate resilience.

Storm-related disruptions not only threaten physical infrastructure but also affect revenue streams and long-term planning. The Quinault Nation is actively working with the City of Ocean Shores to mitigate the erosion’s effects and address future risks to shoreline stability.

“We appreciate the understanding and support of the community during this challenging time,” said Anthony Enzler, Quinault Nation Enterprises chief operating officer, in a report by Aberdeen Daily World

“The damage was severe, but we are dedicated to restoring the park so that visitors can continue to enjoy this beautiful coast of Damon Point and Oyhut Bay.”

For outdoor hospitality professionals, the park’s situation reinforces the importance of proactive maintenance planning and environmental risk assessment.

Whether it involves reinforcing utilities, developing emergency communication strategies, or working with local governments on erosion control, operators may benefit from preparing in advance for similar disruptions.

The timeline for full restoration remains uncertain, despite the May 1 target for reopening.

“The Quinault Nation Enterprises staff and Quinault RV Park management are working tirelessly to clean up and rebuild, with every effort being made to welcome guests back as soon as it is safe and feasible,” the statement continued.
