Just outside Washington’s Mount Rainier National Park near the town of Ashford, Paradise Pines Campground is offering visitors a back-to-basics camping experience with proximity to one of the state’s most visited outdoor destinations.
The small campground features only two primitive tent sites and no access to electricity, running water, or trash services.
Despite its minimal infrastructure, Paradise Pines is designed for those looking to disconnect and experience a quieter side of camping.
The campground includes essential features such as fire rings, picnic tables, and designated tent pads, along with a shared portable toilet for guests.
Paradise Pines is located a short drive from the Nisqually entrance, one of the busiest access points to Mount Rainier National Park.
The site’s remote feel is enhanced by its limited capacity and wooded surroundings, creating a secluded setting that avoids large crowds and noise.
The campground’s two sites cater to different group sizes. The Wonderland Campsite, on the eastern side of the property, accommodates up to eight guests and includes two 12-by-12 tent pads, two picnic tables, and a single fire ring.
Pets are allowed at this site.
According to an article published by Only in Your State, the smaller Skyline Campsite, situated to the west, supports up to four campers and offers one tent pad, a picnic table, and a fire ring.
Both sites allow for a maximum of two vehicles and currently do not have wheelchair access.
Although the campground lacks modern conveniences, it maintains a level of comfort through site features. Gravel foundations, sturdy tables, and maintained tent pads provide a functional camping environment.
Visitors can access basic supplies and services in Ashford, located just minutes from the campground. The town serves as a base for many park visitors and includes lodging, restaurants, and convenience stores.
Campsite reservations at Paradise Pines can be made up to 18 months in advance through Hipcamp.
