Charbonneau Park and Campground near Burbank (Washington) is set to undergo a major septic system overhaul, part of an effort to bring the facility into compliance with state regulations.
The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers awarded the $925,800 contract for the project to Civil Built, LLC.
The septic system serves multiple amenities within the park, including showers, restrooms, campsites, and the boat pump-out station. The upgrade is necessary to ensure the continued safe operation of these facilities.
According to an article published by Elkhorn Media Group on September 29, construction is scheduled to begin next month and will be completed in April 2026. The timeline was planned to coincide with the campground’s off-season, minimizing disruptions for visitors during peak use.
Charbonneau Park offers a range of camping facilities, including 37 regular RV and tent sites equipped with 50-amp electrical hook-ups, fire pits or grills, and picnic tables.
Fourteen of these sites are located along the waterfront, providing direct access to the lake.
In addition, there are 15 full hook-up RV and tent sites that include 50-amp electrical service, potable water, and sewer connections. Two of these full hook-up sites are universally accessible to accommodate visitors with disabilities.
The park’s day-use area is designed to support a variety of recreational activities. Amenities include flush toilets available during the summer season, with portable restrooms provided in winter.
Visitors can also use picnic tables, a designated swim beach, a playground, and outdoor grills. Information kiosks offer maps, rules, and regulations to guide guests during their stay.
For boaters, Charbonneau Park maintains a paved, two-lane launch ramp that provides year-round access to Lake Sacajawea. The facility accommodates a steady flow of recreational watercraft but enforces regulations that prohibit power loading of boats to protect the ramp and shoreline.
