For the first time, campground reservations at the Wilderness Road Campground (Virginia) in Cumberland Gap National Historical Park are now online.
According to a report, camping at Wilderness Road Campground has always been on a first-come, first-served basis, making regular campers rush to the site during holidays and popular weekends—with no assurance of availability.
Now, with recreation.gov, regular campers can see which camping spot they’ll be able to find, and travelers will arrive in the area with confidence that they will have a place to camp.
As of writing, all Wilderness Road Campground campsites will be available for reservation via Recreation.gov.
Campers can now reserve sites up to six months ahead or visit the campground and reserve a site for the same through Recreation.gov once available. Group camping sites are available for reservation up to 12 months ahead.
Visit Recreation.gov and look for Cumberland Gap National Historical Park or Wilderness Road Campground to reserve a site. You can also call 1-877-444-6777.
Campsites fees are $18/night for non-electric sites (or $9/night with an Interagency Senior or Access Pass) and $24/night for electric sites (or $12/night with an Interagency Senior or Access Pass). Group campsite fees are $39/night.
