The Virginia Campground Association (VCA) will host a members-only webinar on Wednesday, May 1, at 10 a.m. to review outcomes from the 2024 Virginia General Assembly session and discuss potential legislative developments affecting campgrounds in the year ahead.
Led by Tommy Herbert, director of government affairs, the online session will provide a detailed overview of laws and policies that impact campground permitting, land use, and liability. The webinar is held in partnership with the Virginia Restaurant, Lodging & Travel Association (VRLTA).
The agenda will address key wins and losses from the session, focusing on issues directly affecting the outdoor hospitality industry. Among the topics are zoning disputes and the impact of expanding data center developments across the state.
Organizers will also preview possible legislation in 2025, including measures aimed at providing “inherent risk” liability protection for campground owners and operators.
According to the VCA, knowing where things stand legislatively is essential for adapting business strategies and ensuring compliance. “You need to know where things stand to plan for the season ahead—and beyond. Bonus: You’ll also get updates on how VCA is advocating for your business,” a press release indicated.
Participants are encouraged to submit specific questions in advance by emailing [email protected]. The VCA noted that addressing member concerns during the session helps shape future advocacy priorities.
