Three Virginia campgrounds have been named finalists in the 2025 Outdoor Hospitality Industry (OHI) Awards of Excellence, a national program recognizing innovation and achievement among campgrounds and RV resorts in the United States and Canada.
The finalists include Anvil Campground in Williamsburg, Chincoteague Bay RV Resort and Cottages in Chincoteague, and Sun Outdoors Cape Charles in Cape Charles.
The OHI Awards of Excellence highlight private campgrounds that demonstrate outstanding performance in guest experience, sustainability, and leadership.
Winners will be announced during the upcoming “Celebrate Innovation: The OHI Awards of Excellence Luncheon” on November 10, 2025, held during the Outdoor Hospitality Conference & Expo (OHCE2025) in Louisville, Kentucky.
“These nominations shine a spotlight on the creativity and professionalism of Virginia’s outdoor hospitality businesses,” said Chris Jump, president of the Virginia Campground Association and owner of Anvil Campground.
“Each of these parks demonstrates how innovation and guest service go hand-in-hand to make Virginia a destination for campers from across the country.”
The annual OHI Awards honor businesses across several categories, including Park of the Year, Park Innovator of the Year, and Supplier of the Year. Recognition through these awards often reflects a commitment to excellence in operations, facility management, and guest satisfaction, which are qualities that continue to drive growth within the outdoor hospitality industry.
For campground and RV park operators, the awards serve not only as recognition of achievement but also as benchmarks for industry best practices. Finalists and winners often gain increased visibility among travelers, industry peers, and potential partners.
For professionals seeking to strengthen their own operations, following award-winning parks can provide insights into emerging trends in sustainability, design, and guest engagement.
