The fall camping season is underway across Virginia, bringing with it cooler temperatures, colorful foliage, and a surge of visitors eager to experience the outdoors.
The Virginia Campground Association (VCA) has encouraged its members to make the most of the season by showcasing their parks’ autumn charm and promoting upcoming Halloween and fall-themed activities.
With crisp air and golden leaves setting the scene, VCA noted that fall remains one of the most popular times of the year for camping in the state. Campgrounds from the mountains to the coast are welcoming guests with seasonal touches such as fire pits, pumpkins, and s’mores nights.
As part of its ongoing member support, VCA has invited campgrounds to share details of their fall and Halloween events for additional promotion.
According to the association’s email, operators are encouraged to email event flyers, weekend themes, or details about costume contests, hayrides, pumpkin carving, and trick-or-treating so the association can feature them on its social media platforms.
In addition to promoting special events, VCA is building out fall content for its Facebook page. The association is asking members to submit fall foliage photos, campsite decorations, and images of happy campers or glamping setups to highlight the vibrancy of the season and showcase the unique experiences offered across Virginia’s private parks.
The association reminded members that fall also marks an important administrative deadline. To ensure inclusion in the upcoming 2026 Virginia Campgrounds Directory, VCA advised members to confirm their dues are paid by November 1.
Operators unsure of their membership status are invited to contact the association directly. “Need to check your status? Just reply and we’ll confirm it for you,” the association shared in its update to members.
Beyond event promotion and administrative reminders, VCA took time to celebrate its members’ achievements in the hospitality industry. The association congratulated Fancy Gap / Blue Ridge Parkway KOA Holiday for receiving an Ordinary Award from the Virginia Restaurant, Lodging & Travel Association.
The Ordinary Awards recognize excellence in Virginia’s tourism and hospitality sector. “This award celebrates exceptional hospitality, and we are thrilled to see a VCA member honored for their excellence,” VCA shared in its announcement.
The recognition highlights the continued efforts of Virginia’s campground owners to elevate guest experiences and set a high standard for service within the outdoor hospitality industry.
In addition to Fancy Gap KOA, Candy Hill Campground and Small Country Campground were recognized as finalists for this year’s Ordinary Awards.
