Elysian Escape Brings Sustainable Outdoor Hospitality to Virginia

Elysian Escape, a Virginia-based hospitality company, has officially opened a new luxury glamping retreat in Richardsville, Virginia.

The property began welcoming guests on September 15, marking its entry into the growing alternative lodging market that merges comfort and sustainability in nature-based settings.

Located near the Rappahannock River and within reach of Virginia’s wine country, Elysian Escape features canvas bell tents equipped with beds, private bathrooms, electricity, and outdoor firepits.

The retreat caters to couples, families, and small groups seeking short-term stays that combine natural immersion with the amenities of traditional accommodations. Guests have access to nearby hiking trails, river tubing, and regional food and wine experiences, aligning the property with Virginia’s broader tourism appeal.

Luis Valenzuela, a spokesperson for Elysian Escape, said the company’s goal is to align guest comfort with environmental awareness.

“Our intent is to provide a retreat that emphasizes both comfort and environmental responsibility,” Valenzuela said in a press release

“We believe travelers are increasingly looking for accommodations that connect them with the outdoors while maintaining a thoughtful balance with sustainability.”

The company reports that environmental considerations guided the retreat’s design. The removable structures and renewable energy integration reflect Elysian Escape’s principle of “Leave no trace, leave only wonder,” emphasizing low-impact development.

The opening aligns with ongoing growth in the glamping sector. Grand View Research projects the global glamping market to more than double by 2030 as travelers seek experiential stays that blend nature and luxury.

In Virginia, tourism generated $30.3 billion in 2023, with outdoor recreation identified as one of the state’s most resilient segments.

Industry data suggests shifting consumer preferences are supporting such ventures. Airbnb’s 2023 survey found that 77% of respondents prefer unique or nontraditional accommodations, while Booking.com reported that over 60% favor properties that prioritize sustainability.

For business owners in the outdoor hospitality sector, Elysian Escape’s launch highlights the continued demand for nature-based lodging that integrates sustainability and modern comfort.

The retreat’s model illustrates how operators can align with consumer trends while meeting environmental and regulatory expectations.

Reservations for Elysian Escape are available through the company’s website and major booking platforms, including Airbnb, Vrbo, Glamping Hub, and Booking.com.
