Truma North America will host its fifth annual Spring Clean-up on Saturday, April 26, at Woodlawn Nature Center in Elkhart, Indiana, marking a commitment to the city’s green spaces through its participation in the Adopt-a-Park program.
The event is scheduled to begin at 10 a.m. with the formal dedication of Woodlawn Nature Center as the latest site under Truma’s care. This initiative makes Woodlawn the second Elkhart park the company has adopted since the program’s inception in 2023.
“We had the honor of being the first corporate sponsor of Elkhart’s Adopt-a-Park program when it launched in 2023. We have seen firsthand the impact our time has had on High Dive Park and look forward to seeing the progress we can make at Woodlawn Nature Center,” said Stacey Harris, head of marketing and retail sales for Truma North America.
The nature center spans 10 acres and features walking trails and a natural history museum. Volunteers from Truma will assist in tasks including trash collection, trail maintenance, flower bed preparation, and invasive species removal.
City officials view the collaboration as an important step in revitalizing a longtime community asset.
“Woodlawn Nature Center has been a valuable community space for over 50 years. Many Elkhart residents have fond memories of enjoying the park with their families. Woodlawn is starting to show its age and, with Truma’s help, we plan to revitalize this space for families to enjoy now and for generations to come,” said Mandi Null, Volunteer Coordinator for Elkhart Parks and Recreation.
The Elkhart Parks and Recreation Department will provide a limited number of gardening tools and equipment for volunteers, though participants are encouraged to bring their own work gloves, shovels, and rakes.
“We also recommend wearing comfortable, durable footwear, work gloves, and clothes you don’t mind getting dirty,” a press release indicated.
