The Dyrt, a national camping app and online community, announced its 2025 Best Places to Camp: Top 10 in the U.S., based on reviews and ratings submitted by its user base.
The list, released this week, highlights 10 standout destinations across the country, recognized for their scenic locations, accessibility, and overall camper satisfaction.
The selected campgrounds span a diverse range of geographies, from Colorado’s Rocky Mountains to the Great Plains of South Dakota and the shores of Lake Superior in Minnesota.
According to The Dyrt, the rankings are the result of data points from campers who share their firsthand experiences on the platform.
“Campers on The Dyrt are spread out across the whole country, and this list is a true reflection of what they consider the Best Places to Camp,” Sarah Smith, founder of The Dyrt, said in a press release.
“These are the campgrounds that exceed all expectations and provide extra-special lifelong memories,” Smith added.
The top 10 campgrounds include Lost Lake Campground in Colorado’s Gunnison National Forest; Sandy Springs Campground in Ohio; Split Rock Lighthouse State Park Campground in Minnesota; Alabama Hills Recreation Area in California; and The Wall in South Dakota.
The list also features North Rim Campground in Grand Canyon National Park, White Star Campground in Pike-San Isabel National Forest, Scoria Pit in North Dakota, Town Hall Road in New Hampshire’s White Mountain National Forest, and Copper Falls State Park Campground in Wisconsin.
The Dyrt’s annual Best Places to Camp list is compiled independently of pricing, but affordability remains a key characteristic of this year’s winners.
“One of the many reasons camping is so great is that after sourcing this list of the Best Places to Camp from our camping community, we found that four of the 10 are free,” said Kevin Long, CEO of The Dyrt. “And the other six, you can reserve spots at all of them for $35 or less.”
The announcement comes amid growing demand for campsites nationwide. The Dyrt’s 2025 Camping Report Presented by Toyota Trucks found that more than half of campers — 56.1%— experienced difficulty booking campsites due to high demand and limited availability.
To help address the issue, The Dyrt offers a premium alert system that notifies users when reservations open at previously sold-out campgrounds.
The Dyrt also recently released its regional Best Places to Camp awards.
