In the past few years, the list of people nominated for inclusion in the RV/MH Hall of Fame has decreased in part because when a candidate is not chosen within five years, that nominee is removed from the list of eligible candidates. It doesn’t mean that an individual is less worthy. Darryl Searer, president of the Hall, asked people who submitted nominations over five years ago to revise and resubmit their candidate, according to a News & Insights report from the RV Industry Association (RVIA).
Also, as a reminder to those submitting nominations for the second time or submitting a nomination for the first time, remember that the deadline for nominations is October. 31 for those who are being taken into consideration for the class of 2022.
Searer stated, “If you are considering the possibility of submitting a nominee for the first time, the best way to begin is to download the nomination guidelines and forms. The nomination guidelines and conditions are available online at https://www.rvmhhalloffame.org/how-to-nominate/.
“Most members of the two industries know someone who deserves to be in the Hall of Fame, and this would be an excellent time to begin the nomination process,”
Following these guidelines, any person is eligible to nominate someone according to the guidelines; anyone can nominate a person for The Hall of Fame that meets the requirements for eligibility. The only individuals who should not be considered include members of the Hall’s Selection Committee.
To be eligible, the nominee has to have been actively involved in any part of the recreational vehicle, campground, or manufactured housing sectors for a minimum period of twenty-five years. Canadians and other participants in the industry(s) are indeed eligible to be considered.
Suppose a form for nomination is completed, and three well-prepared seconding letters are received by the deadline of October 31 of the year it was submitted. In that case, the nominee will be included in the pool of applicants for the following year’s class and five years after the year if they are not selected this year.
The Hall’s Selection Committee will announce its choices in January 2022, and the ones chosen will be inducted during the Hall’s annual Induction Dinner in August. The Hall’s bylaws permit the Hall to induct up to 10 people per year.
Searer declared, “The Hall welcomes nominations from all the RV and manufactured housing industries — including manufacturers dealers, campgrounds, housing communities suppliers, user groups and trade media organizations, etc. -for the class of 2022 and beyond.
“The nominating committees are especially interested in receiving nominations for deserving early pioneers who may have been forgotten, passed over, or overlooked in the past.”
After the nomination form and accompanying letters have been completed, nominations can be made either by mail, email, or personally at the Hall or via fax to 574-293-366.
