The Texas Association of Campground Owners (TACO) has launched its 2025 RV Travel & Camping Guide to Texas, providing travelers with a comprehensive resource for planning their next adventure. The guide, available in both printed and digital formats, features detailed information on campgrounds, RV parks, and glamping resorts across Texas and surrounding states.
The annual publication is designed to help RV enthusiasts explore various destinations while highlighting local attractions and services.
The theme of the 2025 guide, “You’re Always at Home in Texas,” reflects TACO’s emphasis on creating welcoming experiences for visitors.
According to Brian Schaeffer, TACO’s executive director and CEO, the guide is intended to serve a broad audience, including Texans seeking short getaways and newcomers to the state.
“The guide is a great resource for people taking shorter trips, for Texans moving around Texas, and for people moving to Texas,” Schaeffer said. The publication aims to provide travelers with essential information to enhance their journeys.
In addition to covering Texas destinations, the guide includes sections on private parks in neighboring states such as New Mexico, Oklahoma, and Arkansas. This broader scope offers travelers more options when planning multi-state road trips.
“We designed the guide as a travel planning resource that not only includes detailed descriptions of great places to camp, but information on nearby attractions,” Schaeffer explained.
The guide also serves as a valuable tool for connecting travelers with local information. It features contact details for chambers of commerce and visitors’ bureaus that provide additional insights into area attractions, festivals, and annual events. These resources can help travelers discover unique experiences in each region they visit.
TACO has printed 250,000 copies of the 2025 guide, distributing them through various channels, including RV shows across Texas and beyond. Key events like the Houston RV Show, scheduled for February 12-16, and the Austin RV Expo, taking place from February 13-16, will feature the guide prominently.
Additionally, Anderson’s Brochure Distribution Service will distribute copies at 25 RV shows throughout the U.S. and Canada. The extensive distribution network ensures the guide reaches a wide audience.
Distribution efforts also include Texas Information Centers and Points of Entry into the state, where travelers can pick up copies. Schaeffer emphasized the continued demand for printed directories.
“Our biggest sources of distribution are the Texas Information Centers, the Points of Entry into Texas,” he said, noting that the guides are also available through TACO-member parks and local chambers of commerce.
One of the guide’s unique features is its detailed coverage of local attractions. Examples include the Big Texan Steak Ranch in Amarillo, known for its 72-ounce steak challenge, and the Caddo Mounds State Historic Site near Alto, which offers insights into Texas’ prehistoric past.
The guide highlights a wide range of destinations, from historical sites to unique dining experiences, providing travelers with ideas for enriching their trips.
Additional attractions featured in the guide include the East Texas Oil Museum in Kilgore, which chronicles the discovery of oil in the region, and the George Ranch in Richmond, a living history site showcasing Texas’ ranching heritage. These listings provide readers with cultural and educational experiences that reflect Texas’ diverse history.
The guide also highlights lesser-known sites, such as the Museum of the American G.I. in College Station, which features restored military vehicles, and the Painted Churches of Schulenberg, renowned for their intricate interior artwork.
Beyond attractions, the guide lists over 400 campgrounds, RV parks, and resorts, complete with maps, amenities, and contact information. This extensive directory helps travelers find suitable accommodations throughout Texas.
Designed by Texas Advertising, the guide features display ads from prominent RV resort chains and campground networks, including Quality RV Resorts, Encore, Thousand Trails, and Jellystone Park Camp-Resorts.
Advertisers also include RV dealers and manufacturers, such as PPL Motorhomes and Platinum Cottages. PPL Motorhomes is recognized as the largest RV consignment dealer in the country, while Platinum Cottages produces park-model RVs commonly used as rental units.
