TACO Names 2026 Award-Winning Campgrounds and Supplier at Annual Convention in Conroe

The Texas Association of Campground Owners (TACO) announced its 2026 award winners, recognizing top-performing parks, a supplier, and an industry contributor during its Spring Meeting and Convention in Conroe, Texas.

TACO Executive Director and CEO Brian Schaeffer presented the awards at the Lone Star Convention Center, highlighting standout operations across multiple categories, including large and small parks, glamping resorts, and supplier services.

Lagoon Ranch RV Resort in Onalaska received the Large Park of the Year Award, a category for parks with more than 125 sites. The resort opened in April 2025 and features 194 RV sites and 24 custom cabins.

The property includes 1,000 feet of waterfront along Lake Onalaska, a 180,000-gallon lagoon-style swimming pool with a swim-up bar, and an on-site restaurant.

River’s Edge Campground in Johnson City also earned the Small Park of the Year Award for parks with fewer than 125 sites. The 57-site campground sits on a 100-acre property along the Pedernales River in the Texas Hill Country.

The park offers a mix of RV and tent sites, cabins, and covered wagons. Amenities include a nine-hole disc golf course, sports courts, a playground, and a giant chess game, along with river-based activities such as fishing, swimming, tubing, and kayaking.

Camp Quitcherbichen in Lake Bridgeport was named Glamping Resort of the Year. The resort features a mile of waterfront along Lake Bridgeport and offers 48 RV sites alongside a range of accommodations, including two 1977 Airstream trailers, four covered wagons, 12 cabins, and 10 “vessels” equipped with floor-to-ceiling windows, smart mirrors, electronic skylights, and heated floors.

On-site dining options include Joe Mama’s Italian Kitchen, Trailer Park Tacos, Sacred Cow Burger Co., and the Honey Hole Saloon, along with a “Chill Station” offering coffee, sweets, and ice cream. The property also includes an event venue, Delilah’s Ballroom, with a commercial kitchen and bar.

Wild Energy was named Supplier of the Year for its technology and software that allow park operators to sub-meter electricity and water usage and charge guests based on consumption.

Wild Energy President and CEO Mike Sorensen said variable usage patterns, weather cycles, and fluctuating utility rates make it difficult for operators to accurately estimate costs without metering systems.

TACO also presented its annual Spirit Award to Terry Munoz of Campground Consulting Group, recognizing his contributions to the private park industry. Munoz has served multiple terms on the TACO and OHI boards and has volunteered as an instructor at the George O’Leary National School of Outdoor Hospitality.

He currently serves as chairman of the OHI Foundation, which provides grants for operator education and emergency assistance for park operators affected by natural disasters.
