The Texas Association of Campground Owners (TACO) announced the recipients of its annual awards, recognizing top parks and a distinguished supplier at its Spring Meeting and Convention at the Lone Star Convention Center in Conroe.
Brian Schaeffer, TACO executive director and CEO, revealed that the competition saw numerous parks enter this year. “We had a dozen entries for each category, which is a record. We switched how to enter your park to a much simpler method, which only took a few minutes to complete,” Schaeffer said in a press release.
In the Large Park of the Year category, El Campo Lost Lagoon RV Resort brought home the 2024 award. The resort in El Campo is known for its extensive water features, including a two-acre, 650,000-gallon beach entry swimming pool, a 500-foot lazy river, and a new multilevel water play structure.
Quilly’s RV Park in Rockport was awarded Small Park of the Year. This park is celebrated for its amenities, including ADA-compliant swimming facilities, stocked fishing ponds, and extensive nature trails.
The spotlight also shone on Al’s Hideaway in Pipe Creek, which garnered the Accommodations of the Year Award. The park is recognized for its diverse lodging options, featuring furnished park model RVs and two distinctively appointed tipis.
Meanwhile, the Supplier of the Year Award went to RV Park Management, a Bulverde, Texas-based company.
“For supplier, we send a ballot out to each TACO campground member with every TACO vendor member listed and ask them to choose one to win Supplier of the Year,” Schaeffer explained.
For the first time ever, the association also honored an individual who represents the spirit of TACO. Randall Dally, president of TACO and the newly appointed legislative liaison, was recognized for his extensive contributions. Since 2002, Dally has owned and operated Rayburn RV Hideout and has been a proactive member of TACO for 17 years.
