Crazy Horse Campground is hosting a holiday-themed inflatable display starting this Friday as part of a fundraising effort for the Make-A-Wish Foundation, with the potential to set a new record for the number of inflatables on a single property.
Campground manager Ian Snell explained that the event was developed as a way to attract visitors during the winter off-season while supporting a charitable cause. “Once day I drove in and thought that people could drive through grounds, and then I thought that it would be cool to try and set a record for most inflatables on one property,” Snell said.
The display, known as The Great Inflate, will open at 5 p.m. on Friday, December 20, and run until 9 p.m., with a $10 fee per vehicle. Visitors will be able to drive through multiple times to view the display, which currently features more than 100 inflatables and continues to grow daily.
Saturday and Sunday, December 21–22, the display will be open from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m., with a brunch with Santa scheduled from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Food will be available for purchase from the campground cafe.
Snell noted the dual purpose of the event, combining community enjoyment with fundraising. “My older sister has muscular dystrophy, and when she was younger Make-A-Wish helped us go to Disney World,” he told My Journal Courier. “They do a lot of great things. We want to give back and help other children’s wishes come true.”
The Guinness World Records currently has no official record for the most inflatables on a single property, though Snell cited an example of a neighborhood with 300 to 400 inflatables across several houses. “This would be a new record, and we would want to build on it each year,” he said. “Ultimately, we’d like to get up to over 1,000. Right now, we have more than 100, and we keep getting them in the mail every day.”
Inflatables have been donated or loaned from local businesses and community members, and the campground will continue accepting items through noon on Friday. Loaned inflatables will be returned to their owners after the display concludes on Monday, allowing them to be set up in private yards before Christmas.
For business owners in outdoor hospitality and event management, the display offers a case study in off-season engagement, combining community involvement, charitable fundraising, and creative event design to increase visitation during a typically slower period.
