RVRA Survey Shows RV Rentals Holding Strong Ahead of Summer

A spring survey conducted by the RV Rental Association (RVRA), a division of the RV Dealers Association (RVDA), found that nearly two-thirds of RV dealers who also rent vehicles reported summer bookings that either match or exceed last year’s levels.

The survey revealed that 34% of respondents reported higher bookings compared to 2024, while 29% said their numbers were consistent with last year’s. Seventeen percent noted increases between 5 and 9%, and 5% said bookings were up by 20% or more.

According  to a press release, Rental RVs continue to be popular for traditional family trips, reunions, and attendance at various festivals and shows. Rental duration also reflects these uses, with 44% of dealers stating that five to six nights is the average contract length. Another 22% reported average rental periods of seven or more nights.

Looking ahead, 66% of rental operators believe contract lengths will remain the same in 2025, while 20% expect them to increase.

Larger RVs remain the preferred option among renters. Thirty-four percent of survey respondents said RVs with sleeping space for at least four people are the most popular, followed by 32%  who said units with capacity for six or more are in highest demand.

“There are plenty of choices for those looking to rent an RV,” said Scott Krenek of Krenek RV in Coloma, Michigan, chairman of the RV Rental Association. “That’s why so many RVRA members are looking forward to a great summer season this year.”

Towable RV rentals also continue to grow in popularity. One-third of rental companies said up to half of their customers already own a vehicle capable of towing a trailer. These “tow & go” customers drive Ford F-series, Chevy Silverados, RAM pickups, or similar SUVs.

Rental companies are accommodating customers who do not own tow-capable vehicles. Thirty-six percent of respondents said at least 20% of their clients request trailers to be delivered to and set up at campgrounds or other locations.

RV rental dealers are increasingly using peer-to-peer digital platforms to reach a wider audience. The survey showed that 38% of dealers post some or all of their rental fleet units on such platforms, viewing them as a valuable marketing tool.
