Craig Kirby, president and CEO of the RV Industry Association (RVIA), issued a message to association members on Thursday, July 3, recognizing their support and celebrating the industry’s resilience ahead of the Fourth of July holiday.
In his message, Kirby reflected on the recent success of RVs Move America Week in Washington, D.C., an annual gathering focused on advancing the industry’s legislative and regulatory goals.
“It was inspiring to once again engage with so many of our members and partners while making meaningful progress on key policy priorities that will help sustain and grow our industry,” Kirby said in a News and Insights report of RVIA.
“Our collective voice continues to make an impact on Capitol Hill and within key regulatory agencies,” Kirby added.
Kirby also acknowledged continued market challenges but pointed to encouraging trends, including a growing and diversifying customer base. He cited new data from Go RVing showing a 50% increase in RV usage days compared to 2021.
The increase in RV travel is further supported by reports from campground operators across the country who are seeing sustained demand for bookings this summer.
Kirby highlighted how RVing’s flexibility and wellness benefits remain key draws for consumers.
“The flexibility and autonomy that RVing offers continue to resonate, as do the mental and physical health benefits of being active in the outdoors,” he states.
Kirby underscored the broader economic significance of the RV industry, noting its $140 billion annual economic impact, the nearly 700,000 jobs it supports, and more than $48 billion in annual wages.
He described RVing as a foundational part of the outdoor recreation economy, with strong long-term appeal.
“RVers—many of whom are younger, more diverse, and eager to embrace the freedom and adventure that RVing provides,” Kirby added.
Looking ahead, Kirby expressed confidence in the industry’s continued momentum, even amid economic headwinds.
He encouraged members to take pride in their role in helping Americans connect with the outdoors.
“As we celebrate the 4th of July, I hope each of you can take a moment to appreciate the incredible work this industry does,” he said.
