RV Technical Institute’s 2023 Report Highlights Advances in Technician Training

The RV Technical Institute released its 2023 annual report, noting progress in addressing the demand for skilled RV technicians. The report details the institute’s approach to training and recruitment, establishing it as the industry’s standard for technician education.

Central to the institute’s efforts is its comprehensive technician training program, which uses industry partnerships to provide current and relevant training. The curriculum equips technicians with the skills needed to meet the evolving RV industry demands, ensuring certified professionals are prepared for modern RV maintenance and repair challenges.

According to a press release, the report introduces Level 3 training, focusing on specialized diagnostics and repair in five areas: electrical, chassis, electronics, appliances, and slideout systems. The Level 3 curriculum advances technician education, allowing professionals to enhance their expertise and stay current with RV technology.

The institute’s diversity and inclusion efforts include a campaign to attract women to RV technician work, recognizing their potential and unique perspectives. Additionally, all-female technician courses were offered nationwide, providing a supportive environment for women to develop their skills and confidence.

The institute also focuses on attracting young talent through partnerships with high schools, allowing students to graduate as certified Level 1 RV technicians. This program provides students with valuable skills and career opportunities while addressing the industry’s long-term workforce needs.

In addition, the report highlights the institute’s reach, with over 5,000 certified technicians and nearly 1,000 dealerships. This network ensures high-quality training is accessible to aspiring and existing technicians.

RV Technical Institute Executive Director Curt Hemmeler emphasized that the RV industry’s support has been critical to the institute’s success so far and remains even more important for future achievements.

“With more and more  RVers finding the outdoors and camping for the first time, the ability to provide quality, timely service as an industry is crucial to delivering an exceptional experience for RVers,” Hemmeler said.
