The RV Technical Institute (RVTI) highlighted the RV technician career path to more than 6,500 education professionals at the Association for Career and Technical Education’s (ACTE) CareerTech Vision Conference in Nashville, Tennessee, December 9–12.
The institute’s presence aimed to promote industry-recognized training and certification while expanding high school participation in its programs.
The institute’s display featured an RV to attract attention and provide hands-on engagement for attendees. The exhibit emphasized the value of formal training and certification for aspiring RV service technicians.
School counselors and administrators were able to gather detailed information about RVTI’s programs, which they can relay to high school students exploring careers in skilled trades. These interactions help increase awareness of the RV technician career path among the next generation of workers.
Students enrolled in schools offering RVTI’s curriculum have the opportunity to achieve their Level 1 certification before graduation, providing a head start in the workforce.
“We ended the year on a high note by attending the CareerTech Vision Conference,” Halle Howard, RVTI Account Specialist, said in a News and Insights report of RVIA on December 18.
“We’ve been working throughout the year to attend school counselor events and continue sharing with the education community the need for trained RV service technicians,” Howard added.
Howard added that the institute hopes to further integrate its program into high schools and higher education institutions, expanding career opportunities for students in skilled trades.
The conference provided opportunities for direct engagement, including displaying a unit generously provided by Jayco, which served as a tangible example of the work students could perform after certification.
“We hope to keep incorporating our program in high schools and higher education institutions. This gives more students an opportunity to launch their career in the skilled trades, ultimately leading to more trained techs,” Howard added.
The institute maintains partnerships with academic institutions such as Navarro College in Corsicana, Texas, and Littleton Public Schools’ EPIC Campus in Littleton, Colorado, further supporting student access to certified training programs.
Ongoing engagement with educational professionals allows RVTI to advocate for the incorporation of its programs in more schools and districts.
By attending events like CareerTech Vision, the institute can respond directly to industry workforce needs and demonstrate how certification programs prepare students for high-demand technical careers.
