RV Technical Institute Opens Registration for May Level 3 Appliance Workshop

Registration has opened for the RV Technical Institute’s (RVTI) second Level 3 workshop of 2026, with the upcoming session focusing on appliance systems and scheduled for May 19-21 in Elkhart, Indiana.

The three-day workshop is designed for RV technicians seeking to advance their technical expertise in diagnosing, troubleshooting, and repairing key appliance components, an area critical to overall vehicle functionality and customer satisfaction.

According to a News and Insights report of RVIA on April 9, the course will feature a series of manufacturer-led training sessions covering multiple appliance categories.

Instruction will include Dometic Academy training modules on traditional water heaters, refrigerators, furnaces, and air conditioners, totaling 16 hours of coursework.

Additional instruction will be provided by Truma, with an eight-hour session focused on instantaneous, hydronic, and combination water heaters.

The total cost to attend the workshop is $90.

The Level 3 workshop is part of the RVTI’s broader certification pathway, which aims to build technical proficiency across specialized RV systems.

Level 3 training specifically prepares technicians to handle advanced service tasks, including complex diagnostics and system-level repairs.

The institute began offering in-person Level 3 workshops in 2024 as a way to expand access to advanced training. Each workshop in the series is dedicated to a single specialty area, allowing participants to complete all required training hours for that category in one session.

The 2026 workshop series will continue to focus on three specialty areas, though five total specialties are required for technicians pursuing the institute’s highest credential. Participants who complete training in all five areas are eligible to earn Level 4 Master Certification.

The May workshop will be held at the RVTI’s facility at 3333 Middlebury Street in Elkhart.

For technicians unable to attend in-person sessions, the institute noted that Level 3 courses remain available throughout the year through authorized supplier training programs, offering an alternative pathway to complete certification requirements.
