The RV Industry Association (RVIA) reported that shipments reached 28,212 units in August, marking a 3.1% decline compared to the 29,105 units recorded during the same month in 2024.
Despite the monthly dip, year-to-date totals remain positive. Through August, shipments have climbed to 241,550 units, representing a 4.2% increase compared to the same period last year.
Towable RVs, the largest segment of the industry and led by conventional travel trailers, accounted for 25,030 shipments in August. That figure reflected a 4.6% decrease from August 2024.
Motorhomes, by contrast, saw an increase in wholesale performance. The segment finished the month with 3,182 shipments, up 11.3% from the prior year.
The smaller park model RV category also posted the strongest growth rate. Shipments rose 33.8% year-over-year in August, with 400 units delivered to dealers.
According to a market report of RVIA for August 2025, Craig Kirby, the association’s president and CEO, said the results underscore the sector’s ability to adapt to shifting consumer demand.
“The innovation of our industry is on full display as manufacturers and suppliers continue to build new products and features that appeal to a wide variety of lifestyles and budgets that make up today—and tomorrow’s RVers,” he said.
He added that consumer interest in RVs remains tied to the broader appeal of the lifestyle. “RVing has always been about freedom and adventure, and it continues to be one of the best ways for families and friends to get out there and make memories that will last a lifetime,” he said.
The RVIA, with offices in the Washington, D.C., area and Elkhart, Ind., has served as the leading trade voice of the $140 billion RV industry for 50 years.
Representing more than 500 manufacturers, component suppliers, and aftermarket providers, the association’s members produce 98% of all RVs built in the United States and about 60% of those manufactured worldwide.
As the unifying body of the industry, the RVIA brings together diverse stakeholders to create a strong, single voice that drives growth and innovation.
Through advocacy, partnerships, and consumer outreach, the association advances the industry’s interests and strengthens its role in the outdoor recreation economy.
