RV Shipments Hit 35,375 Units in April Amid Surge in Summer Travel Demand

RV shipments in the United States reached 35,375 units in April, marking a 3.4% increase from the 34,197 units shipped during the same month last year, according to the latest survey results released by the RV Industry Association (RVIA).

The rise comes as manufacturers respond to increased demand ahead of the summer travel season.

According to a News and Insights report of RVIA, through the first four months of the year, total RV shipments have climbed 10.9% totaling 133,223 units.

“With summer travel season kicking off and 44 million Americans planning to go RVing this summer, RV manufacturers and suppliers are dedicated to meeting the needs of these customers with new and innovative products,” said RVIA President & CEO Craig Kirby.

“New units headed to dealer lots across the country provide buyers many options and allow people one of the truly great ways to experience the physical and mental benefits of the outdoors,” Kirby added.

Towable RVs, led by conventional travel trailers, were the primary driver of growth in April, recording 31,982 wholesale shipments, a 4.2% increase compared to the same period last year.

In contrast, motorhomes saw a decline in shipments for the month. April closed with 3,393 motorhomes shipped, down 3.4% compared to April 2024.

Park Model RVs also recorded a year-over-year decline. In April, the segment posted 415 units shipped, an 8.4% drop from the same month last year. These models, while niche, continue to play a role in seasonal and destination-focused camping.

Headquartered in the Washington, D.C. area with additional offices in Elkhart, Indiana, RVIA serves as a trade voice for the $140 billion RV industry.

The association represents more than 500 manufacturers, suppliers, and aftermarket companies that collectively produce 98% of all recreational vehicles manufactured in the United States and about 60% of RVs built worldwide.

Through strategic partnerships, collaborative initiatives, and a commitment to shared goals, RVIA works to strengthen the industry’s voice, stimulate growth, and champion innovation that enhances outdoor recreation across the country and beyond.
