RV Industry Association Engages State Policymakers at 2025 Legislative Summit

The RV Industry Association’s (RVIA) State Government Affairs team participated in the National Conference of State Legislatures’ (NCSL) 2025 Legislative Summit in Boston, Massachusetts.

The event, recognized as the leading state legislative gathering in the United States, drew more than 6,000 attendees, including legislators, legislative staff, lobbyists, exhibitors, and government affairs professionals from across the country.

Held annually, the NCSL Legislative Summit serves as a key platform for policy discussions, networking, and knowledge sharing among state-level decision-makers.

For the RV industry, it provides an opportunity to address legislative issues affecting manufacturers, dealers, and consumers nationwide.

During the conference, RVIA staffed a booth in collaboration with the National Marine Manufacturers Association. This joint presence enabled the two industries to share common policy concerns and engage with a diverse range of policymakers.

Association representatives met with legislators and legislative staff from more than 25 states over the course of the event. Conversations covered both current policy challenges and long-term strategic priorities for the industry.

Attendees visiting the booth also had the opportunity to tour a 2026 Forest River R-Pod travel trailer. This hands-on experience allowed policymakers to better understand the RV product segment and its relevance to their constituencies.

“The Summit gives us the opportunity to talk about pressing issues that legislators and legislatures more broadly need to be aware of, such as state franchise laws, right-to-repair laws, and the growing issue of PFAS bans or reporting requirements on manufacturers,” Michael Ochs, RVIA’s Director of State Affairs, said in a News and Insights report of RVIA on August 7.

Ochs noted that the event is not only about current legislative topics but also about building relationships for future advocacy efforts. The team uses the summit to identify priority states for the next legislative cycle.

“Preparing for legislative sessions really starts when we attend this meeting. We’re deciding which states to focus on throughout 2026 and then we make the effort to meet with legislators from those states while we’re here,” Ochs said.
