RV Dealers Convention Workshop to Address Fraud Prevention Strategies for Dealerships

Jim Lawyer, vice president of strategic partnerships for 700Credit, is scheduled to lead a workshop at the 2025 RV Dealers Convention/Expo in Las Vegas, addressing how dealerships can reduce the risk of fraud involving stolen identities and synthetic credit profiles.

The session, titled “From Lead to Loss: Synthetic Fraud & Stolen Identities – How Dealerships Can Protect Themselves,” will take place at 1:30 p.m. on Tuesday, Nov. 11, as part of the dealer/general manager track.

With dealerships increasingly relying on digital sales processes, the risks associated with fraudulent transactions have grown. Lawyer’s presentation will examine fraud threats that can occur at any point during the sales process, both online and in-store.

The workshop will cover emerging fraud tactics, how synthetic identities are used to secure vehicle purchases under false pretenses, and how advanced, AI-driven detection tools can be integrated into operations.

Attendees will also learn how these tools can help meet compliance requirements under the Federal Trade Commission’s Safeguards Rule, which mandates the protection of consumer data.

In addition to identifying risks, the session will outline prevention strategies designed to protect dealerships’ profitability and reputation.

For RV, caravan, and outdoor hospitality businesses that also manage sales or rentals of high-value assets, the same fraud trends and detection strategies can be applied to safeguard transactions, especially in online bookings or digital payment systems.

Understanding these fraud prevention measures can help operators strengthen customer trust while meeting regulatory obligations.

The RV Dealers Convention/Expo, scheduled for Nov. 10–14, 2025, at Paris Las Vegas, is organized by the RVDA of the U.S., RVDA of Canada, and the Mike Molino RV Learning Center.

It offers dealership personnel opportunities to connect with peers, industry leaders, and vendors.

In addition to fraud prevention, the event will cover topics such as fixed operations, marketing, and management strategies aimed at improving performance across all dealership departments.

Registration for the event is open here, with updates available on the convention’s website and social media channels, including Facebook, Instagram, LinkedIn, and X.
