RoverPass on July 11 launched the beta version of its new Smart Metering system, a utility management solution designed to help campground and RV park owners track and bill electricity usage without the need for complex wiring or third-party software.
Developed in response to customer demand for greater visibility into utility costs, the system integrates directly into the existing RoverPass reservation platform. According to the company, it eliminates the need for standalone metering tools, separate logins, and costly installations.
Utility expenses have become a rising concern for outdoor hospitality providers, with traditional submetering systems often requiring extensive infrastructure upgrades.
The RoverPass Smart Metering system aims to streamline this process by offering automated electricity readings and real-time usage insights.
“We built Smart Metering to give owners a clear view of their power usage and an effortless way to pass costs on to guests,” Ravi Parikh, founder and executive president of RoverPass, said in a press release.
“Our team selected best in class hardware then wrapped it into our reservation software so everything from reservation to checkout lives in one tool,” Parikh added.
The beta version is available now for current RoverPass customers. Participants receive their first meters at no cost and can expect minimal on-site setup. The system uses clamp-on CT sensors connected to existing power lines and transmits data via LoRaWAN directly into the owner’s RoverPass dashboard.
“Our Customer Success team is standing by to get properties up and running,” said Paul Martinez, customer success and onboarding supervisor at RoverPass. “We’ll guide owners through installation calibration and billing setup so they can start saving time and money the same day.”
Smart Metering provides hourly and daily usage tracking, along with customizable alerts that notify users when energy consumption exceeds preset limits. Detailed reports can be viewed online or exported for further analysis.
As part of the beta program, participants will have direct access to RoverPass engineers and product developers. Feedback collected during this period will inform enhancements to the system ahead of a wider commercial release later this year.
