PlainsCraft Unveils ADA-Compliant Covered Wagon for Glamping Market

PlainsCraft has introduced an ADA-compliant version of its signature Covered Wagon, expanding accessibility within the glamping sector.

The model will make its industry debut at the Glamping Show Americas in Aurora, Colorado, in September 2025, where attendees can view the design at Booth #700 in the Outdoor Exhibit area.

The company has positioned the new wagon as a way for outdoor hospitality operators to better serve travelers of all abilities. The interiors are fully ADA-compliant while retaining the wagon’s traditional look and features.

According to PlainsCraft, the design provides owners with multiple options for integrating the wagon into their properties, including ground-level construction, ramp access, or lifts, depending on the terrain.

“Few units on the market today fully meet ADA requirements,” said Dennis Steinman, CEO of PlainsCraft.

“Accessibility isn’t just about regulations—it’s about ensuring everyone has the chance to enjoy the outdoors. We’re proud to debut this next-level wagon, setting a new standard and reshaping the way accessibility should be built into outdoor hospitality.”

For operators, the addition of ADA-compliant units could provide both practical and competitive advantages.

Shane Burns, vice president of sales and marketing at PlainsCraft, noted that accessibility features improve visibility on booking platforms. “Every owner we work with is looking for ways to stand out by offering unique features and amenities,” Burns said.

“Adding an ADA-compliant wagon does exactly that. The moment a guest selects ‘wheelchair accessible’ under amenities, their unit will rise in the listings with better visibility. It’s a way to expand their audience, reduce direct competition, and demonstrate a level of hospitality that guests won’t forget.”

The new model includes a spacious ADA-compliant layout, optional en suite bathroom, and the company’s Bonnetgard™ insulation system, designed to extend seasonal use. PlainsCraft has also emphasized a quick installation process to help operators begin generating returns sooner.

This development comes during a year of milestones for PlainsCraft. The company recently introduced a new Shower House designed to complement its 1.2 Bath Outhouse, giving operators more flexibility in property expansion.

In addition, PlainsCraft’s flagship wagons earned ANSI 119.5 certification, a national standard that confirms compliance with park model RV safety and quality requirements.

For outdoor hospitality business owners, the introduction of ADA-compliant units offers an opportunity to meet growing demand for inclusive travel while differentiating their properties.

As accessibility becomes a higher priority across the industry, adopting units that meet compliance standards may also reduce liability concerns and broaden market appeal.”

This model reflects who we are as a company—building with quality, craftsmanship, and ensuring the outdoor experience is available to more people,” Steinman said in a press release. “That’s what matters most.”
