For the 17th consecutive year, the Sunbury Airport Campground (Pennsylvania) has provided financial support to veterans in Northumberland County, presenting a donation to assist those in need.
Campground Representative Peggy Reichenbach presented a check for $7,257 to county officials at the Northumberland County Administration Building.
The contribution will support the county’s Area Agency on Aging Veterans Program.
The donation was received by Commissioners Sam Schiccatano, Joe Klebon, and Meghan Beck, alongside Ryan Miller, the county’s Veterans Affairs and Area Agency on Aging director. The funds were raised through community fundraising efforts at the campground.
Reichenbach said the donation reflects the ongoing commitment of both the campground and its campers to support local veterans.
The donation brings the total raised over the last three years to $20,045, according to Reichenbach. Campground activities, held in partnership with the Sunbury Social Club, have been central to the fundraising.
Miller said the money goes directly into the Veterans Affairs Emergency Fund, which provides short-term financial assistance for veterans. The fund helps those who face unexpected bills or financial challenges.
Commissioner Schiccatano praised the efforts of the campground community. “This is a wonderful thing for us that the campground does,” he said, as reported by Daily Item on September 2.
