Pennsylvania Launches 61 New Glamping Sites Across State Parks

Pennsylvania has introduced 61 new glamping sites across eight state parks, offering visitors a more comfortable way to enjoy the outdoors without traditional camping hardships.

According to an article by Reading Eagle, the sites, which officially opened this week, include locations such as French Creek, Poe Valley, and Pymatuning.

Glamping, short for “glamorous camping,” combines the natural setting of a campsite with modern amenities such as real beds, electricity and climate control.

State officials said the new accommodations are designed to appeal to people who want to enjoy nature but prefer a more hotel-like experience.

“This new offering is another way we’re ensuring that our state parks remain welcoming and enjoyable for all Pennsylvanians,” said Cindy Adams Dunn, secretary of the Pennsylvania Department of Conservation and Natural Resources.

“By transforming underused campsites into beautiful glamping experiences, we’re expanding overnight options in a way that’s affordable, sustainable, and beneficial to local communities. These are truly places where adventure feels like home,” Cindy added.

The glamping project is a partnership between the state and Timberline Glamping Company. Each site includes safari-style tents equipped with beds, lighting, décor, and heating and air conditioning.

In addition, each park will have at least one ADA-accessible tent. Timberline co-owners Nathan and Rebeka Self said the company’s goal is to make outdoor stays more inviting for a wider range of travelers.

“We believe that time spent in the great outdoors with family and friends can create some of life’s most meaningful memories,” they said in a joint statement.

“We are passionate about creating beautiful, truly unique, and unforgettable spaces, where people can explore our incredible State Parks, without sacrificing comfort, luxury, and style.”

Reservations are available for one-night weekday stays or two-night weekend and holiday visits.

Guests can also purchase add-ons such as firewood, games, local experiences, and gourmet s’mores kits.

Bookings can be made through the DCNR’s Stay the Night portal or at timberlineglamping.com

Under the agreement, the state will receive a flat fee plus a share of Timberline’s revenue to support park improvements.

Officials noted this marks Timberline’s first expansion into the Northeast, with Pennsylvania now hosting more of the company’s locations than any other state.

This development underscores the continued growth of outdoor hospitality as travelers seek unique, nature-based accommodations without sacrificing comfort.
