With hopes to benefit from the growing popularity of outdoor recreational opportunities, the Broad Top Township Supervisors (Pennsylvania) announced its plans to improve Cooper’s Recreational Campground, located south of Hopewell.
As per a report, the decision was taken at a recent supervisors’ meeting.
Already a popular destination to visit in the H&BT Rail Trail, the Cooper Recreational Area borders the Raystown Branch of the Juniata River, where many outdoor recreation activities have been held.
The supervisors see considerable merit in developing the site as an overnight camping facility and agreed to pursue funding to support the proposed project.
The supervisors agreed to seek funding by applying for a Local Share Account Grant under the state Finance Authority.
Once completed, patrons of the facility would be charged fees for the camping area usage, including the paved access area.
