Outdoor Recreation Roundtable to Host EXPLORE Act One-Year Anniversary Webinar

The Outdoor Recreation Roundtable will host a national webinar on January 27, marking the one-year anniversary of the EXPLORE Act, the first outdoor recreation–specific legislative package passed with unanimous bipartisan support.

The virtual event will convene senior federal leaders, policymakers, and industry stakeholders to review implementation progress, early successes, and priorities for the next 12 months.

“The Outdoor Recreation Roundtable invites you to a one-year anniversary webinar marking the enactment of the EXPLORE Act. This virtual event will identify priorities to ensure the law fulfills its promise of expanding outdoor access for all Americans,” the event details indicate.

The EXPLORE Act, signed into law one year ago, was a landmark measure targeting the growth and modernization of outdoor recreation policy across the United States.

Its passage established a legislative framework to enhance access, streamline permitting, and coordinate federal efforts across land and water management agencies.

Implementation over the past year has begun producing measurable results, according to the Outdoor Recreation Roundtable.

The upcoming webinar will provide updates from key agencies responsible for implementing the act, including the U.S. Forest Service, National Park Service (NPS), Bureau of Land Management, Fish and Wildlife Service, and National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration.

According to a News and Insights report of RVIA on January 8, participants will also hear from policymakers and leaders in the outdoor recreation sector, offering a comprehensive perspective on the legislation’s early impacts and the challenges that remain.

Topics on the agenda include first-year implementation progress, highlighting early successes and identifying areas where gaps or barriers persist.

Expanded access for diverse user groups will also be discussed. This includes initiatives supporting biking, climbing, motorized recreation, veterans, and individuals with disabilities.

The webinar will address the economic role of recreation in gateway communities and rural areas, exploring how the act influences local development and supports the broader recreation economy.

Cross-agency coordination remains a central focus of the EXPLORE Act, and the webinar will cover efforts to enhance data sharing, digital tools, and collaboration between federal entities.

Leaders will outline priorities and planned actions for the next 12 months.

Registration is required to attend the virtual session, which will run from 12:00 to 1:00 p.m. Eastern Time. The event will be hosted via Zoom, allowing participants nationwide to engage with federal leaders and industry experts.
