Lone Pine Group Campground to Welcome Visitors Again Starting July 25

The Bureau of Land Management (BLM) Roseburg District announced that Lone Pine Group Campground, located approximately 10 miles from Glide, Oregon, will reopen on July 25 for individual site rentals through the summer and fall 2025 season.

The campground is situated next to Rock Creek, a tributary of the North Umpqua River.

Closed since the Archie Creek Fire in 2020, Lone Pine Group Campground is among the first recreation sites in the Rock Creek corridor to reopen following extensive wildfire recovery efforts. The area sustained significant damage during the fire.

“We are excited to announce the opening of one of our campgrounds affected by the Archie Creek Fire in 2020,” Cheyne Rossbach, assistant field manager, said in a press release.

“With the help of volunteers, BLM staff, and Northwest Youth Corps participants we can now open this facility to the public, bringing back one of the first camping opportunities within the Rock Creek corridor since the fire,” Rossbach added.

Reservations for Lone Pine Group Campground are now open and can be made online through recreation.gov, which lists site availability, fees, and other details for planning visits.

According to its website, Lone Pine Group Campground offers a scenic setting ideal for weddings, family reunions, company celebrations, and group outings. This reservable campground is designed to accommodate larger gatherings.

Guests can enjoy a variety of recreational activities, including volleyball, horseshoes, swimming in nearby Rock Creek, and exploring the one-mile Sawmill Trail—an interpretive hiking path that highlights the area’s natural and historical features.

The campground features a timber-framed pavilion equipped with tables, counter space, a sink, water access, electric outlets, and a large barbecue grill—making it easy to host group meals or outdoor events.

The BLM manages about 245 million acres of public land, primarily in 12 western states and Alaska, and oversees 700 million acres of sub-surface mineral estate nationwide. Its mission is to sustain the health, diversity, and productivity of America’s public lands for current and future generations.
