Orr Family Farm Expands Glamping Experience Near Oklahoma City

Just outside of Oklahoma City, Orr Family Farm continues to attract overnight visitors with a distinctive glamping experience that blends rustic aesthetics with modern amenities.

Founded by veterinarian and entrepreneur Dr. Glenn Orr, the farm has developed a strong reputation for its immersive offerings, which include overnight stays in Conestoga wagons and Native American-style teepees.

The inspiration for the lodging concept, according to Dr. Orr, came from a personal dream. “One night I had a dream and it was so visible… she said, ‘Get Conestoga wagons,’” Dr. Orr said, referring to his late wife.

He then began a nationwide search to bring that vision to fruition. Each wagon and teepee is outfitted with amenities such as beds, air conditioning, microwaves, and private bathrooms that come with showers and towels.

Expanding on its overnight options, Orr Family Farm has also added a polydome designed to offer guests a unique stargazing experience while enjoying a jacuzzi soak.

“You can pull the curtain back at night and see the stars,” said Dr. Orr. “You can see it’s right next to a lake. If they want to go fishing, they can do that.”

Guests who visit the farm often return for future stays, celebrating special occasions or creating family traditions.

“They’ll come stay in a wagon, then a teepee. Next thing you know it’s a birthday, a reunion, an anniversary,” Dr. Orr told Fox 25. “So we have a lot of repeat customers that come from all over the world, by the way.”

Currently, Orr Family Farm is promoting its lowest seasonal rates, which include access to a range of on-site activities. These include animal feeding, a swim spa developed with input from Olympic swimmer Michael Phelps, zip lines, and jumping pillows.

For business owners in the outdoor hospitality industry, Orr Family Farm’s development underscores the potential value in offering diverse, themed accommodations combined with family-friendly recreation.

By evolving from a traditional farm attraction into an overnight destination, the operation demonstrates a model of customer engagement that emphasizes emotional connection, repeat visitation, and experiential lodging.

Now 93 years old, Dr. Orr continues to manage the farm. “It’s what I call my labor of love. I’m 93 years old, and it keeps me young,” he said.

No upcoming dates for events were included in the source material, but operators in similar markets may benefit from watching how offerings like this adapt seasonally to maintain interest and drive bookings year-round.
