Great Parks Completes Major Upgrades at Winton Woods Campground

Great Parks in Ohio has completed a series of upgrades at Winton Woods Campground, marking the latest improvements to one of Hamilton County’s most visited outdoor destinations.

The enhanced facilities are now open to campers as part of a larger plan to improve the region’s park system.

The project includes fully renovated shower facilities, upgraded electrical systems, and new concrete pads designed to accommodate additional recreational vehicles.

A graywater collection system has also been installed to handle wastewater from showers and sinks, a move intended to strengthen conservation practices.

“These improvements enhance what is already a very relaxing setting at Winton Woods Campground, which is a fun getaway with trails, paddling, fishing and Winton Lake just steps away,” Todd Palmeter, Great Parks CEO, said, as reported by Local 12 on August 22.

“The campground is another of the outstanding experiences the public has asked for from their Great Parks,” Palmeter added.

The campground upgrades are part of Great Parks’ ongoing efforts to modernize infrastructure. The investments are designed to improve guest comfort while maintaining environmental stewardship.

Funding for the renovations came from a 0.95-mill levy approved by Hamilton County voters in 2021. The levy was established to address critical infrastructure needs.

Winton Woods Campground offers a peaceful retreat in a pine grove beside the scenic Winton Lake, giving visitors a balance of relaxation and outdoor activity.

Campers have access to Winton Woods’ popular amenities, including the harbor, boathouse, snack bar, and wet playground, all within walking distance. The location is designed for those looking to escape daily routines while staying close to recreational opportunities.

The campground features a variety of site options to accommodate different camping styles. Guests can choose from 12 pull-through sites equipped with 30/50-amp electric, water, sewer, picnic tables, and fire rings.

There are also 32 back-in sites with 30-amp electric service, water, sewer, gravel pads, and picnic tables. For traditional campers, 71 tent sites are available, each with 30-amp electric, picnic tables, and fire rings.

Winton Woods Campground also offers six rustic cabins. Each cabin includes one full bed and three twin beds, as well as electric service, HVAC units, and picnic tables.
