Bay Point Resort & Marina Celebrates 40 Years of Service by Chris Mahler

Bay Point Resort & Marina in Marblehead, Ohio, recently honored longtime employee Chris Mahler for 40 years of service, recognizing his dedication and impact on the property’s growth and success.

Mahler joined the resort in 1985 at $3 an hour and has since become an integral part of the team that helped shape Bay Point into a leading regional vacation destination.

When Mahler first started, his duties ranged from mowing the campground and waxing boats to driving the Bay Point garbage truck.

His role quickly expanded as the resort developed its infrastructure and amenities over the years.

According to an article published by The Beacon, in 1986, Mahler joined the crew that dug out the marina and poured the frames for docks O and T. His hands-on work continued as he assisted with multiple construction and maintenance projects across the property.

By 1992, Mahler was part of the team that installed new utilities at the campground, improving the experience for guests and helping to accommodate Bay Point’s growing customer base.

His contributions spanned every corner of the property’s operations, from campground maintenance to marina upgrades.

Throughout his tenure, Mahler played a direct role in expanding and maintaining key marina infrastructure.

He helped build the fuel dock, wired electrical systems, and participated in dredging operations four times to keep the marina functional and accessible.

Mahler also assisted with installing floating docks and supported annual efforts in boat storage, haul-outs, and launches. His technical knowledge and experience made him a reliable resource for staff and management alike.

Over four decades, Mahler worked under six general managers, adapting to changes in leadership, equipment, and operational priorities while maintaining consistent performance and professionalism.

Today, Mahler serves as Bay Point’s property maintenance manager, overseeing campground operations, grounds maintenance, property upkeep, and the marina’s boat lifts. His comprehensive understanding of the property’s infrastructure makes him a cornerstone of daily operations.

The resort combines scenic waterfront views, modern marina facilities, and a welcoming community atmosphere that make it a premier destination for boating, relaxation, and recreation.
