OHI is highlighting opportunities for campground and RV park operators to engage guests by showing live football games during the season, which has already begun.
OHI is emphasizing the importance of compliance, noting that streaming games requires proper licensing to avoid copyright issues.
Showing games in public or commercial spaces is not the same as using a personal subscription. Residential packages, such as NFL Sunday Ticket for home use, are intended strictly for private viewing.
Parks that attempt to use them for guests risk violating licensing rules.
“Broadcasting games in a public or commercial space without the proper license can get your park flagged for copyright infringement. The last thing you want is to risk fines while trying to create a fun experience for your guests,” OHI said in a LinkedIn post.
According to OHI, the solution is to secure a commercial license. EverPass Media and DIRECTV for Business are the exclusive providers of commercial rights for NFL Sunday Ticket. These licenses authorize operators to legally stream games for guests, covering every out-of-market Sunday afternoon matchup and access to NFL RedZone.
Obtaining the license ensures compliance and unlocks premium content. For parks, it creates an opportunity to deliver a full football experience while safeguarding against the possibility of fines or legal disputes.
With licensing secured, the next step is setup. Outdoor televisions or weather-resistant screens are recommended for clear visibility in bright sunlight or unpredictable conditions.
Equally important is sound, with outdoor speakers or portable systems ensuring guests can follow the action across the property.
Promotion is another critical factor, OHI states. Operators are encouraged to advertise their game-day offerings on park websites, social media, and physical signage. Schedules and reminders help guests organize their time around the events and build excitement in advance.
“Football season is a chance to offer something different and build community. Done right, hosting games can turn a regular weekend into a standout experience or become a regular weekend thing,” OHI indicates.
