OHI recently announced the graduation of students from the George O’Leary National School of Outdoor Hospitality. 75 students achieved the distinguished professional certification, according to a press release.

The graduates, comprising owners, managers, operators, and staff from RV parks, campgrounds, and glamping sites, have demonstrated exceptional dedication to enhancing their professional skills and contributing to the growth of their businesses and the industry.

“Congratulations to all of this year’s graduates. Completing any year of National School is a unique accomplishment and shows the dedication each of these members has to professional growth and the growth of their businesses and our industry. We look forward to recognizing each of our amazing OHI members and previous graduates at OHCE2024 in Oklahoma City,” David Basler, OHI’s chief strategy officer, said.

The George O’Leary National School of Outdoor Hospitality, an annual event, attracts industry experts to share knowledge and skills essential for making positive contributions to campgrounds and the broader community. The achievements of this year’s graduates underscore a collective commitment to personal and professional development, raising the standards of excellence within the outdoor hospitality industry.

“A lot has changed in the industry since I went through the school. But what hasn’t is that students walk away ready to face anything. The incredible rigor and skills built into the curriculum at National School ensure students are well-equipped to tackle existing problems at their park and whatever might be thrown their way. It’s training for today and the future, and it has an incredible impact on our industry. It’s an honor to be part of that again this year,” Jim Button, OHE’s vice chair of the Board of Directors, owner of Evergreen Campsites, National School graduate, and National School instructor, said.

For the past 31 years, the National School has been a cornerstone of OHI’s efforts to nurture and advance the outdoor hospitality industry. Through advocacy, tools, and training, OHI aims to promote the success of its members and contribute to creating memorable experiences for outdoor enthusiasts.

“We had a fantastic 31st session of the school with 75 students completing their certifications. It was great to have a diverse group of students from as far away as Alaska and several from the U.S. Army Morale, Welfare, and Recreation Command all come together to improve the camping experience and to advance the outdoor hospitality industry together for the benefit of all who enjoy the outdoors,” Mark Machia, the “unofficial dean” of National School, a founding father of the program, said.
