North Dakota State Fairgrounds Granted $27,500 for Camping Expansion

North Dakota State Fairgrounds receives a $27,500 grant from the Garrison Diversion Conservancy Districts Recreation Committee for recreational improvements, such as expanding camping spaces and adding more power outlets.

Craig Rudland, assistant general manager of the fairgrounds, said the renovation project is much needed since camping spaces sell out fast during big events.

The improvements will take place in four camping locations on the grounds at a total of around 800 sites for RVs and campers once the project is completed. The project is in progress and will be ready in time for this year’s state fair and Norsk Hostfest, according to a report.

“These additional outlets will be great for the state fair. They’ll be absolutely helpful to the Norsk Høstfest. And in the bigger picture, it really helps us attract other camping rallies like the FMCA camp rallies,” said Rudland.

He said bigger camping groups often contact them to inquire about their site’s availability or regarding amenities for bigger campers, which is a deciding factor if they will stay at Minot for events.

Rudland believes that they can host more RVs and campers, bringing in more tourism to Minot.

The North Dakota State Fairgrounds urges people who plan on camping during this year’s state fair to book quickly online since they have about 50 spots left.
